Biography
A proud native of South Florida, Marcus grew up in the Miami-Dade and Broward County metropolitan region. After graduating from the Broward County Public Schools district, he completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Florida Memorial University in Miami, Florida and subsequently, a Master of Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Later, Marcus attended the Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, Florida, where he earned a Juris Doctorate degree along with numerous distinctions including a Book Award in Wills & Estates and recognition for obtaining the Dean’s List. While in law school, he made significant contributions to the Florida A&M University Law Review as Supervising Editor and was a member of the Florida A&M Advocacy Team where he participated in national negotiations competitions. Simultaneously, Marcus acquired practical legal skills as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Richard Hersch of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida and as a Legal Intern for the Anthony-Smith Law Firm in Orlando, Florida. He was also an active member of several organizations including the Orlando Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Division of the Orange County Bar Association.
Upon passing the Florida Bar Exam, Marcus was notified by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners that his essay answer on “Trusts/Family Law & Dependency/Ethics” would be published in the Florida Bar Examination Study Guide & Selected Answers, which assists future bar takers in studying for the Florida Bar Exam.
Following this achievement, Marcus became a Judicial Staff Attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Broward County, Florida. In this capacity, Marcus advised judges on all procedural and substantive matters of law within the Civil and Complex Business Divisions of the Court and independently authored hundreds of judicial orders and opinions, some, of which, have been affirmed by Florida’s appellate courts including the Florida Supreme Court. He also worked with The Blue Line Law Firm handling both transactional and litigation matters such as contract drafting, partitions, and breach of contract disputes for business owners, real estate developers, and investors.
Prior to law school, Marcus was a middle and high school math teacher and instructional math coach for Miami-Dade, Broward, Orange, and Osceola County Public Schools. He also worked for national and multinational corporations including CarMax and Motorola, respectively. Currently, Marcus focuses his practice on business, real estate, and estate planning transactions and litigation. He enjoys frequent travel around the world, riding rollercoasters, and gallivanting with family and friends to escape the mania of it all.
